The South East Group qualifier for the EG Boys’ County Finals was held at Rookery Park Golf Club on Thursday 4th July 2024.   The course was presented in excellent condition. The weather was not unpleasant but the wind was ever present and made scoring very difficult. Only one player finished under par for the 36 holes – Charlie Rusbridge (Essex) was 2 under in the morning and level par in the afternoon, finishing 4 strokes ahead of second place.   The championship is played by teams of six players with the best five scores from each round making up the team score. Kent led the field after the first round with Essex in second place six strokes behind. Undeterred, the Essex players came in six strokes better than Kent in the afternoon to tie the scores after 36 holes. The tie-break is based on the aggregate of discarded scores over the two rounds which resulted in Kent winning and going on to the national finals at Teignmouth Golf Club in August.   We thank everyone at Rookery Park Golf Club for providing a superb course and for ensuring that everything went well on the day.   The Kent Team is pictured (courtesy of James Bignell) below receiving the trophy from Jim Pocknell:
