Having each won their respective qualifying event in the summer, teams of ten seniors from Bedfordshire, Gloucestershire, Hertfordshire and Sussex assembled at Weston-super-Mare GC for the final of the Southern Counties Seniors’ Foursomes on 19th September.
The weather was warm and very windy. The course was presented in excellent condition.
After the morning matches, Sussex led with 3.5 points, followed by Gloucestershire and Hertfordshire both on 3 points. Rarely has this event been so close at lunchtime.
During the afternoon, Hertfordshire and Sussex fought a close battle and both finished with 7 points. The tie break in this event is the total number of holes up in all games. An 8&7 win in one of their games for Hertfordshire helped them to victory
